The museum's alarm went off at 5:48 AM, and by 5:53 AM, the municipal police arrived at the scene; however, by that time, the robbers had already fled. They took Renoir's works "Madame Colonna Romano" (Madame Colonna Romano, 1910) and "Young Woman at the Well" (Jeune femme au puits, 1886) — both were brought in for temporary storage from the Orsay Museum. In the garden, the abandoned paintings "Madame Pichon" (Madame Pichon, 1895) and "Coco Reading" (Coco lisant, 1905) were found.
