The Chairman of the Council for Cooperation of Agricultural Organizations, Guntis Gutmanis, joined the wave of outrage from farmers' organizations in an interview with TV-24 regarding the recommendations of the Bank of Latvia to commercial banks. In its document, the Bank of Latvia effectively instructs farmers on how to cultivate their fields, when to sow, and so on. "What the Bank of Latvia is doing is madness! They advise, for example, not to cultivate part of the fields with wheat... To make it understandable for people who are not involved in agriculture, it would be like the Bank of Latvia urging banks not to issue loans to those whose children have grades below 8, or to families who have a diesel vehicle instead of an electric car! The Bank of Latvia should better think about how we can all earn more!" - lamented G. Gutmanis.
