An investigation has been launched in Germany following the discovery of drone debris near the Wunstorf military airfield outside Hanover. Fragments of the drone were found on Monday near Lake Steinhuder Meer. Police are currently examining the surrounding uninhabited area, hoping to locate the remaining parts of the device and establish the circumstances of its fall. According to German media, the incident site is located about one kilometer from the Wunstorf military airfield, where Germany's A400M military transport aircraft are based. It is still unknown who owned the drone and what its purpose was near the military facility. Investigators are considering various versions and continue to identify the owner of the device. The mere fact of discovering a drone near military infrastructure draws special attention against the backdrop of recent incidents in Germany. In August, a drone with explosives was found near a Ukrainian An-124 transport aircraft carrying ammunition at Leipzig Airport. Later, German authorities reported that several drones were used in that operation. On September 1, the German government officially stated that it considers Russia involved in the attempted diversion at the airport. The Russian side had previously rejected accusations of such actions. Although no connection between the two cases has been established yet, the discovery of a drone near one of Germany's military air bases occurs amid increased attention from authorities to the security of strategic facilities. The investigation is ongoing, and police hope to find additional fragments of the drone that may help determine its origin and flight path.
