The Cabinet of Ministers may submit amendments to the Railway Law to the Saeima today so that they can be adopted urgently at tomorrow's plenary session, in two readings at once. The goal is to introduce the promised tariff for the transit of Russian grain at 300 percent. Since such a law can be supported by a constitutional majority in the Saeima, the decision will take effect immediately. However, it will not apply to those cargoes that are transshipped in ports and on the railway under previous contracts. Prime Minister A. Kulbergs predicts that the new tariffs will realistically come into effect in three weeks.
