Ronaldo may become a co-owner of Al-Nassr, the club he plays for

This is not about Ronaldo planning to acquire Al-Nassr on his own. The proposed consortium includes five investors. Along with the footballer, it includes Jerry Cardinal, the founder and head of the American investment company RedBird Capital Partners, which controls the Italian club AC Milan. The other three participants are Saudi businessmen Ibrahim Al-Muhaideb, Mohammed Al-Huraiji, and Sharaf Al-Hariri. According to A Bola, each of the five investors must be prepared to invest at least $100 million - about €92 million. Thus, the initial investments of the group could amount to around $500 million, or €460 million. However, this does not mean that Al-Nassr is worth that much. The price of the potential deal has not yet been officially announced. ## What exactly they want to buy Currently, 75% of Al-Nassr is owned by PIF - the sovereign investment fund of Saudi Arabia. The remaining part of the club is held by a non-profit organization. It is the controlling stake owned by PIF that reportedly interests the group of investors. Representatives of the consortium and RedBird are expected to negotiate with the fund's management. Therefore, it is too early to talk about a completed sale: the offer still needs to be agreed upon, and there is no final decision from PIF. If an agreement is reached, it will create a rather unusual situation: Ronaldo will become one of the owners of the club he continues to play for. ## Ronaldo is already investing in football clubs For the Portuguese, this is not the first step from football as a sport to football as a business. In February 2026, Ronaldo, through his company CR7 Sports Investments, acquired 25% of the Spanish club Almeria, which plays in the second division of Spain. The financial terms of this deal were not disclosed. At that time, the footballer stated that he had long wanted to participate in the development of football not just on the field. There are also reports that Ronaldo already owns a small stake in Al-Nassr itself. Different publications have cited different figures, so the exact size of his current stake has not been publicly confirmed. ## Contract valid until 2027 Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr at the end of 2022 after leaving Manchester United, and he played his first matches for the Saudi club in 2023. In the summer of 2025, he extended his contract with Al-Nassr until 2027. Throughout his career, the Portuguese has won the Ballon d'Or five times and the Champions League five times. As part of the Portugal national team, he became the European champion and won the Nations League twice. Ronaldo is now 41 years old, and the question of what he will do after his playing career is becoming more frequent. The purchase of a quarter of Almeria, and now the possible involvement in acquiring the controlling stake in Al-Nassr, shows one of the directions in which the footballer has already begun to develop his business.
