Lovallo was born in 1914. He turned 112 on March 25. In his youth, he worked as a shepherd and later as a mule driver. During World War II, he was drafted into the army. After September 8, 1943, he was captured by German troops in Greece. Initially, Lovallo was interned in Rhodes, then sent to a concentration camp in Germany. He was liberated by Soviet troops on May 8, 1945. After the war, Lovallo returned to the Italian region of Basilicata. He had three children — two daughters and a son. "His long life, lived with simplicity, strength, and love for family and his land, will remain in the hearts of all of us," said the mayor of Avigliano, Giuseppe Mecca. Lovallo's funeral will take place on September 17 at the Church of San Vincenzo Ferrer in Sarnelli.
