“With this initiative, we want to promote the understanding among the population of prevention as a regular and accessible opportunity for everyone to take care of their health, as well as to encourage timely assessment of health risks and the use of preventive measures,” said Alla Silova, Medical Director of Veselības centru apvienība. The trend of our time is such that more and more people, after receiving test results, seek explanations and recommendations using digital devices and artificial intelligence tools. It is clear that the Internet and AI can help understand individual indicators; however, a professional doctor's perspective is always necessary for an accurate assessment of laboratory results. “Artificial intelligence tools can help explain the significance of individual test indicators, but a professional doctor's perspective is needed to evaluate laboratory results. Considering the overall health condition, symptoms, and other significant factors, a doctor can fully interpret the results and recommend further actions. A doctor's consultation will, firstly, help understand the reasons for the deviation of individual test results from the norm and reduce anxiety about this, as well as timely notice possible risks. Secondly, during the consultation, one can receive an answer to the question: 'What should I do next?'. If necessary, the doctor will provide recommendations for further actions — visiting a specialist or undergoing a more in-depth health examination,” explained Alla Silova. Data from a recent survey indicate that nearly 33% of residents cite a lack of time as one of the main obstacles to preventive health care. Therefore, consultations can be obtained remotely — quickly and conveniently, by choosing the most suitable time in advance. During the free consultation, the doctor will evaluate the presented laboratory research results, clarify the most significant indicators, provide recommendations for further actions, and, if necessary, advise contacting a specialist for a more in-depth assessment of health status. “During adulthood, it is advisable to have a complete blood count at least once a year, including markers for internal organs — liver (ALAT, ASAT), kidneys (creatinine, glomerular filtration rate, urea), pancreas (lipase, amylase). Test results should not be assessed solely based on whether the indicator is elevated or lowered. It is important to understand how significant the deviation is, what the other indicators are, and what the possible influence of other health factors on the result is,” added doctor Jana Osīte, head of the laboratory at Centrālā laboratorija, explaining why it is important to discuss test results with a specialist and reminding that results should be discussed with a doctor no later than a month after the tests. ## How to Sign Up for a Free Consultation? The number of spots is limited; the free 20-minute doctor consultation for explaining test results will be available to the first 500 clients. You can apply for a consultation electronically, choosing the most suitable time for yourself. For the consultation, you need to prepare the most relevant blood test results, preferably those conducted no earlier than the last month. ## What Does a Remote Consultation Include? During the consultation, the doctor will evaluate the results of the presented laboratory studies, clarify the most significant indicators, provide recommendations for further actions, and, if necessary, refer to specialists for a more in-depth assessment of health status. The consultation is not an urgent medical service and does not replace an in-person visit if an examination is necessary. The consultation does not include writing prescriptions or issuing referrals. **Note:** To draw attention to the issues of prevention, the healthcare enterprise Veselības centru apvienība (VCA), Centrālā laboratorija, and Mēness aptieka, together with industry partners, established National Prevention Day on September 9. In September, enterprises in Latvia provide various free activities for prevention and health assistance.
