"Either NATO will enter this war, and then it will be World War III, or we will witness a Hundred Years' War," said Le Pen on the air of LCI television channel. She reminded that the military conflict between Moscow and Kyiv has lasted longer than World War I, and the number of casualties has reached 2 million people. "No one talks about this. It’s terrible," emphasized the leader of the French far-right. Le Pen called for a large conference involving different countries to find options for resolving the conflict and to put an end to the war. The politician stated that she would like to personally talk with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. According to her, Germany, Poland, and Turkey should also be involved in the negotiation process. "I believe that France's historical role is precisely to create conditions for negotiations that precede the conclusion of peace," noted the far-right leader. Le Pen also added that in the current situation, France cannot continue to provide financial assistance to Ukraine at the previous level. However, she clarified that Paris is ready to train Ukrainian soldiers and supply weapons to Kyiv. Marine Le Pen has previously run for the presidency of France several times. In 2017 and 2022, she reached the second round but lost to Emmanuel Macron both times. Next year, the politician intends to run for the fourth time. The presidential elections in France are expected to take place on April 18, 2027, and if a second round is needed, on May 2. Currently, Le Pen is leading among other presidential candidates by a margin. 33–34% of voters are ready to cast their votes for her, depending on the identity of the centrist candidate, according to averaged survey results collected by Politico. The closest competitors can currently expect half as many votes — 16–18%, reports The Moscow Times.
