The story of the search for 24-year-old Belarusian citizen Irina Bodilovskaya took an unexpected turn. The girl, whose name appeared on the official list of missing persons after the devastating flood in Nepal, was found alive — however, not in the disaster zone, but in a women's detention center in Taichung, Taiwan. On September 15–16, the media reported that Bodilovskaya was among the foreign tourists missing after the disaster in the Bhotekoshi River area. Her details were indeed listed in documents related to the Nepali authorities. Earlier, Reuters reported that among the missing foreigners were also Belarusian citizens. However, soon Irina's mother, Lilia Bodilovskaya, reported that her daughter was alive and in Taiwan. The girl is currently being held in a women's detention center in Taichung. At the same time, the reason for the girl's detention has not yet been publicly disclosed. It is also unclear how her name ended up on the official Nepali list of missing persons. Thus, the search for Bodilovskaya has ended successfully in the sense that she is alive, but the circumstances of her presence in Taiwan and her detention remain a mystery.
