The program will cover New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego, focusing primarily on defense technologies and dual-use technologies, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, startups, and the film industry. The goal of the trade mission is to help Latvian companies establish new contacts with potential clients, partners, and investors, promote high value-added exports and technological cooperation, and strengthen the positions of Latvian companies in one of the largest and most competitive markets in the world. LAIR notes that the United States is one of Latvia's most important partners in economic cooperation outside the European Union. The trade turnover of goods and services between Latvia and the United States reached 1.63 billion euros in 2025, increasing by 13% over the year, which placed the U.S. ninth among Latvia's foreign trade partners. Latvia's exports to the U.S. reached 1.01 billion euros, increasing by 2%, and the positive trade balance amounted to 395.9 million euros. The U.S. was Latvia's eighth most significant export partner. As part of the trade mission in the U.S., meetings are planned for Latvian companies in the film industry with Paramount and Disney, for companies in defense technologies and dual-use technologies with Anduril, Shield AI, and Qualcomm, and for technology and biomedicine companies with Illumina, Element Biosciences, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Visits to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) are also planned.
