Three cases of influenza have been laboratory confirmed, and a patient with complications caused by influenza has already received treatment at the Latvian Infectology Center. Infectologists note that the circulation of influenza began early this year, and the influenza epidemic may also start earlier than usual. Doctors remind that influenza can cause severe complications, especially in people from at-risk groups. In the last influenza season, influenza was confirmed in 582 patients undergoing inpatient treatment at the Eastern Hospital, and 46 patients died due to influenza. More than three-quarters of all patients were over 60 years old.
