As [reported](https://entrevue.fr/ru/tech-startups/meta-lance-ses-premieres-lunettes-connectees-sans-camera-centrees-sur-lia-et-laudio__trashed/) by Entrevue, the new product was unveiled on September 23 at the Meta Connect conference in Menlo Park. The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses were developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, and their starting price in the U.S. is set at **$349**. ### The Camera Has Been Removed One of the main differences of the new model from previous generations of Meta smart glasses is the complete absence of a camera. Previously, such devices were criticized for the ability to photograph and record others without their knowledge. Meta attempted to address this issue with a recording light indicator and other protective mechanisms. Now, for users who need digital features but do not require photo and video recording, a separate option without a camera has been offered. According to the company, the new glasses are lighter and thinner than the models designed for shooting, and their battery life has increased. ### Artificial Intelligence in the Spotlight One of the key features of the Ray-Ban Meta Audio is expected to be integration with the personal AI agent Muse, introduced by Meta in early September. The company claims that Muse can not only answer questions but also perform specific tasks, help organize projects and plan goals, as well as interact with multiple services. In the glasses, access to AI is expected to be voice-activated. Thus, users will not have to take out their smartphones to ask a question or use some artificial intelligence functions. Additionally, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio is designed for **listening to music and podcasts, making phone calls, obtaining information, and translating conversations**. ### More Than 100 Options by the End of the Year Meta does not intend to limit itself to just one model. The company announced plans to offer **more than 100 options for smart glasses by the end of 2026** — under the Ray-Ban and Oakley brands, as well as within its own collections. The third generation of Ray-Ban Meta has also received improvements in battery life and control. Furthermore, the Meta Ray-Ban Display model with a built-in display is planned to be launched in several new European countries, including France. ### Glasses Instead of a Smartphone? The expansion of the lineup shows the role Meta assigns to smart glasses in the development of its AI services. After significant investments in virtual reality devices, the company is betting on a more familiar accessory that can be worn throughout the day. Ray-Ban Meta Audio is part of this strategy: instead of a camera — sound and voice control, and artificial intelligence should be accessible almost constantly, without the need to reach for the smartphone screen each time.
