According to the charitable organization Tavi draugi, the organization has launched an educational program for elderly people called "Zināšanu spēks" ("The Power of Knowledge"). Its goal is to expand opportunities for lifelong learning, help participants improve their skills, and engage more actively in social and professional life. ### From Finance to English The program is divided into six thematic areas: financial literacy, skills needed in the labor market, communication and improvisation, social activity and an active lifestyle, health literacy, and continuous education and intellectual development. The last block includes English language classes. The organizers note that the program is designed to address both practical everyday tasks and the development of personal and social skills. In financial literacy classes, participants will be able to expand their knowledge about financial matters. A separate block will be dedicated to skills that allow for better navigation in health issues and self-care. Classes will also cover communication, active lifestyles, and social engagement. Mastering professional skills and the English language is expected to provide elderly people with additional opportunities to maintain or enhance their activity in the labor market. ### First Class on October 5 The first financial literacy class will take place on October 5 at NVO nams on Ieriku Street in Riga. Future classes are planned to be held regularly — at least twice a week. The organizers hope that the project will help form an active community where participants can not only gain new knowledge but also exchange experiences, meet new people, and engage in public life. Those interested in attending the "Zināšanu spēks" classes can register via email at [monta.dzalbe@tavidraugi.lv](mailto:monta.dzalbe@tavidraugi.lv) or by phone at 28334012. The project is funded by the European Social Fund Plus with co-financing from the state budget.
