To date, the State Security Service (SSS) has not recorded significant and systematic attempts by Russia or other hostile states to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections to the Saeima in favor of any party or candidate. This was reported by the service itself. At the same time, the special service has already identified individual cases of disinformation related to the elections and political parties. These episodes are currently being analyzed. According to the SSS, the main potential risk during the election period remains information operations. The agency believes that Russia may intensify campaigns to spread false information against political forces and candidates opposing Russian aggression and supporting Ukraine. However, as of today, there are no signs of a large-scale campaign. The service also does not rule out that during the voting period, there may be individual provocations that could be initiated by Russia or Belarus. These are resonant actions that could influence public perception of the elections or their conduct. However, there is currently no specific data on the preparation of such actions. Another area of control remains the possible illegal influence on voters, including attempts to buy votes. According to the SSS, no confirmed cases have been registered so far. This means that despite the heightened attention of the special services to the elections, there are currently no grounds to speak of large-scale violations or foreign interference. At the same time, monitoring will continue until the voting is completed. During the elections, the SSS, together with the State Police and other state and municipal institutions, will ensure enhanced security measures for conducting free and fair voting. Residents are urged to report any attempts of illegal influence on voters' choices — offers of money or other benefits for votes, threats, violence, or other forms of pressure. If possible, it is recommended to preserve photo, video, or audio evidence, as well as to record information about the alleged violators. In addition, the SSS asks to inform about cases of deepfakes and other materials created using artificial intelligence if they spread deliberately false information about political parties or candidates. Along with such reports, it is desirable to indicate where and when such content was discovered. Individual violations fall under the jurisdiction of other agencies. Illegal campaigning on the "day of silence" and on election day should be reported to the State Police, while hidden political advertising, violations of campaign financing rules, and the use of AI without appropriate labeling should be reported to the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB). Until election day, the special services will continue to monitor the information space and verify all incoming reports of possible violations to ensure the lawful conduct of the elections.
