In the production Solo, Agata Bankava performs in three roles at once — as the author of the idea, choreographer, and performer. The focus of the performance is on intuition, sensations, and the interaction of a person with the surrounding space. An unusual part of the production is the props: rakes, coins, a handkerchief, cassette players, and other seemingly unrelated items appear on stage. Gradually, they come together to form a unified theatrical world, and at a certain moment, the audience is invited to join in. Agata Bankava worked on Solo with musician and sound designer Stanislav Kulikov, creative mentor Laura Stashane, as well as dramaturgy consultants Inta Balode, Agnes Krivade, Aigars Larionovs, Sabine Neiland, and Liga Ubele. The second work of the evening, "Translation of My Eyes" by Alise Bokaldere, has a completely different mood. This production was created back in 2018 and represents a personal and poetic reflection on depression, shown through the eyes of a person who is close to someone experiencing it. The authors convey the emotional weight through the physical sensation of heaviness and its gradual accumulation. The performance tells not only about a psychological crisis but also about resilience, love, and the ability to stay close to another person during a difficult time. The original performers and co-authors of the duet were Yana Yatsuk and Laura Kushke. This time, Kristine Brinina and Kitija Geidane will take the stage. The music for the production was created by Aurelia Rancane, Asnate Rancane, and Ilona Dzervi — members of the group Tautumeitas. The evening of contemporary dance will take place on September 30 at 19:00 at the Dance House of the Riga Circus. After both performances, the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the performers.
