In Riga, repairs on certain stormwater drains on Kr. Valdemara Street will begin tonight. The work will take place on the section from Z. A. Meierovica Boulevard to Elizabeth Street in the direction of Dzirnavu Street. The repairs are scheduled to be carried out exclusively at night to minimize the impact on daytime traffic. Residents of nearby houses are being warned about the potential for increased noise levels. The main goal of this schedule is to complete the work before the morning rush hour and to restore traffic on one of the capital's busiest highways as quickly as possible. However, the local government warns that in the event of technical difficulties, some traffic restrictions may remain in place in the morning. Drivers are advised to account for possible delays in advance and to plan their routes with extra time if necessary. After the stormwater drain repairs are completed, work on the street will continue. From October 6 to 18, road services will be updating the asphalt surface on the same section of Kr. Valdemara Street. The surface repairs will also be conducted only at night. However, the work will not take place daily — the road workers will be on site on select nights during the specified period. After all the work is completed, the section of the road should become safer and more comfortable for traffic, and the updated storm sewer system will help drain rainwater more effectively.
