For four hours after the voting ended on Saturday in Riga, not a single electoral envelope was opened, as the instructions from the Central Election Commission (CEC) received so far did not provide for this. Until now, the CEC allowed counting votes in those ballot boxes that did not contain ballots in registration envelopes. Therefore, polling stations open the boxes and count the envelopes inside without opening them. Krasinīya explained that the Riga Election Commission has not yet received new instructions regarding further actions and, accordingly, cannot pass on new instructions to the polling stations. The capital's election commission is awaiting guidance from the CEC on further actions. As reported by **bb.lv**, the counting of votes did not begin because the verification of data in the Electronic Online Voter Register (ETVR) was still ongoing.
