According to the regulations of the Saeima, such consent is necessary if criminal prosecution was initiated before the deputy's powers were confirmed. At the same time, a deputy who has committed a criminal offense is considered excluded from the Saeima from the day the conviction comes into effect. Elected Riga City Council deputy Ainars Slesers (LPP) is accused in a second case regarding digital television. Previously, the Supreme Court overturned the acquittal of the Riga Regional Court and sent the case for retrial. Riga City Council deputy Rudolf Bremanis (SV/Young Latvians) is accused of fraud and embezzling €102,721 belonging to the Latvian state during his diplomatic career. The case is being heard by the first-instance court. Former chairman of the Rezekne City Council Alexander Bartashevich ("Together for Latvia"/LPP) is accused in two criminal cases. One of them has recently been transferred to the Latgale District Court: Bartashevich is accused of exceeding his official powers in the implementation of the Rezekne Recreation Center project. The other case, being heard in the Vidzeme District Court, concerns the disclosure of restricted-access information and the failure to declare information about foreign real estate and significant income for 16 years. Another elected deputy, who was previously a deputy of the Jekabpils region, Aivars Kraps (LPP), is accused of fraud. The Zemgale District Court will consider the case in October. In November 2025, the Zemgale District Court found Kraps guilty of large-scale fraud or fraud committed by an organized group and sentenced him to two years of probation.
