U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will hold talks in Miami with a Ukrainian delegation, which will also include representatives from European countries and NATO. According to LETA, citing the BBC, the meeting is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Sources in Washington report that representatives from several U.S. agencies and European structures will participate in the discussions. The main topic will be new ideas and proposals that American negotiators have been working on in collaboration with Russia and Ukraine during recent trips to the region, according to AFP and Reuters. In September, Witkoff and Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv. However, no specific new initiatives were publicly presented following these visits. Now, the discussion will continue in an expanded format, involving Ukraine's European allies. The Ukrainian delegation includes the head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Rustem Umerov, and the leader of the parliamentary faction "Servant of the People" Davyd Arakhamia. From the U.S. side, in addition to Witkoff and Kushner, representatives from the National Security Council and the U.S. Department of the Treasury will be present. Europe will be represented by national security advisors from France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, as well as representatives from the European Union and NATO. Thus, the discussion of new proposals will go beyond bilateral U.S.-Ukrainian contacts. However, it is still unclear what specific initiatives will be presented to the participants and whether they will facilitate the resumption of negotiations with Russia. In recent weeks, the prospects for a new round of Russian-Ukrainian consultations have been assessed cautiously. On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the conflict has reached a dangerous stalemate. The Kremlin agreed with this assessment: Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that the Russian side shares Rubio's opinion. Meanwhile, according to Axios, diplomatic contacts may continue even after the meeting in Miami. The publication, citing a source, reports that at the end of October, Witkoff and Kushner may again travel to Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin. There is no final confirmation of this trip yet. Thus, the upcoming negotiations in Miami will be another attempt to discuss possible ways to end the war, but no agreed new terms or the resumption of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations have been reported so far.
