According to sources from the publication, leaders of EU countries intend to voice the corresponding request to Zelensky during closed negotiations in Brussels, which will take place on October 16. They emphasized that European leaders do not necessarily consider Zelensky's criticism of Trump to be unjustified, but they fear that public disputes could harm Ukraine's further cooperation with the United States. "Perhaps this is true, but it is not necessary to speak about it out loud every time," explained one of the officials. One of the sources added that the position of the 27 EU leaders during the conversation with the Ukrainian president will be "sympathetic, but firm enough." He emphasized that European leaders plan to take a critical stance regarding Zelensky's statements but intend to assure the Ukrainian president of continued support from the European Union. ## ## Relations Between Zelensky and Trump Deteriorated After Meeting in New York It is worth recalling that in mid-September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky flew to the U.S. for the UN summit, where he met with American President Donald Trump. As reported by The Wall Street Journal, during that meeting, Trump began to harshly question Zelensky about why Ukraine was targeting Russian oil refineries. Moreover, since then, the American leader has frequently urged the Ukrainian president to stop striking Russian oil refineries. The publication believes that this meeting marked the beginning of the end of the "friendship" between Trump and Zelensky. According to high-ranking European and Ukrainian officials, Ukraine's difficulties in accessing satellite terminals followed warnings from the U.S. that Trump might halt intelligence support or arms sales to Kyiv if he did not stop the strikes on Russian oil refineries.
