A screenshot has been published in the Facebook group "Atsaucīgo māmiņu forums" with a message from the E-klase technical support service, stating that the system has encountered a cyber attack. "Currently, the E-klase system is repelling a cyber attack. We hope to restore full functionality of the system soon," the message sent to an E-klase user reads. At present, more detailed information about the scale of the possible attack is unknown. E-klase is an important component of the education system, used daily by 25,000 teachers and 150,000 families across Latvia. The goal of E-klase is to facilitate a quality educational process, ensuring effective information exchange by collaborating with various stakeholders — students, parents, teachers, content developers, municipalities, as well as educational and governmental institutions. E-klase is not an information system created or managed by the state. Its operation, maintenance, and development are provided by a private company, and the support and development of E-klase are not funded by the state budget. The operation of E-klase is based on the principles of voluntariness, open cooperation, and self-financing. This allows each user to access both free and more convenient and extensive options of the Ģimenes komplekts package. E-klase is convenient to use in various working environments — including in a mobile application.
