At the end of June this year, the Ukrainian vacated all championship belts in the heavyweight division. Usyk explained that after winning the title of absolute champion for the second time, he no longer felt the need to hold all the titles. At the same time, the boxer shared that he is not planning to leave the sport just yet. According to an insider, Usyk wants to hold two fights next year. It is indicated that his potential opponents could be David Benavidez and Tyson Fury, should he win against Anthony Joshua. Earlier, the UNIAN agency reported that, according to Coppinger, negotiations for a bout between Usyk and former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder have ceased. According to him, the American may face another opponent in the ring. However, the journalist did not specify the reason for the cessation of negotiations and did not indicate whether there are chances for them to be resumed. One of the possible opponents for Wilder is Australian Jay Opetaia. Their fight could take place on December 11 in Cardiff on the undercard of the bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
