Kristaps Porziņģis' future in the National Basketball Association (NBA) is in question. According to ESPN reporter Shams Charania, the Latvian basketball player continues to experience symptoms of an illness that has already hindered his ability to perform at a professional level, writes [tv3.lv](https://tv3.lv/sports/basketbols/nba2026/espn-porzingis-nopietni-izverte-savu-nakotni-basketbola-warriors-apsver-mainas-darijumus/). Amid uncertainty regarding his health, the Golden State Warriors' management has begun exploring possible trade options for the player. ## Porziņģis Does Not Rule Out Retirement According to ESPN, Porziņģis is seriously contemplating his future in basketball. The reason is the recurring symptoms of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). This disorder affects the autonomic nervous system, causing a significant increase in heart rate when transitioning to an upright position. Possible manifestations include dizziness, weakness, and pronounced fatigue. Porziņģis previously spoke about his diagnosis during his time with the Boston Celtics, as reported by [bb.lv](https://bb.lv/statja/sport/2026/10/15/mne-nuzno-nabratsia-terpeniia-porzingis-rasskazal-o-zdorove-i-otvetil-na-sluxi-o-svoem-diagnoze). According to Charania, if the Latvian basketball player's condition does not significantly improve, one possible scenario could be the end of his professional career. However, Porziņģis has not announced a final decision regarding his departure from basketball. ## Basketball Player Met with Club Management Last week, Porziņģis visited the Golden State training facility and met with team management representatives. However, no details about his current health status and prospects for returning to the court have emerged following this meeting. Meanwhile, the club, according to ESPN, is considering various trade options for the Latvian player. No specific negotiations or potential new teams have been reported yet. ## 40 Million Dollar Contract At the end of June, Porziņģis agreed to a two-year contract with the Warriors worth a total of 40 million dollars. However, only three million dollars are guaranteed in the second season of the agreement. This contract structure is significant amid the uncertainty surrounding the basketball player's future career and the club's potential decisions regarding his future. For now, the main question remains Porziņģis' health status: his recovery largely determines whether the Latvian basketball player can continue to compete in the NBA.
