Kulbergs emphasized that before the official negotiations with other parties begin, it is important for him to secure the understanding and support of the deputies of his political union. The Prime Minister stated that the planned proposal is essentially ready and will soon be presented to the OS faction. After meeting with the OS deputies, the Prime Minister plans to start negotiations with potential coalition partners. Currently, a meeting with representatives of the National Alliance and "New Unity" is scheduled for October 28. Kulbergs noted that the formation of the government will begin with an agreement on the principles of cooperation, the planned changes, and accountability for the results achieved. The negotiations are expected to discuss the decision-making process, mechanisms for resolving disagreements, regular publication of government performance results, as well as dialogue with society and social partners. The Prime Minister explained that the change plan covers not only possible changes in the government's operations and the structure of ministries but also strengthening fiscal discipline, reducing bureaucracy and government spending, as well as promoting economic growth. He emphasized that amendments to laws will be necessary to implement some of the ideas, so support in the Saeima is important. Kulbergs noted that he currently does not rule out any possible models of government, including a minority government. As reported, after the elections to the 15th Saeima, President Edgars Rinkēvičs entrusted the process of forming the government to Kulbergs. In the elections, the OS received 41 parliamentary mandates, becoming the largest political force in the new parliament. The National Alliance will have ten mandates in the 15th Saeima, while "New Unity" will have seven mandates. The parliament will also include the party "Latvia First" with 17 mandates, "Sovereign Power" / "Young Latvians" with 15 mandates, and "Progressives" with 10 mandates.
