The Ministry of Economics will hold an event on Friday, October 30, to celebrate the opening of its new premises in the administrative complex at 1 Talejas Street in Riga, the ministry informed the LETA agency. The event, which will take place at 10:00, will feature a panel discussion on economic development, with participation from Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis, General Director of the Latvian Confederation of Employers Kaspars Gorkšs, Board Member of ASNS Ingredient Edgars Ruža, President and Chairwoman of SEB banka Ieva Tetere, and Chairman of the Board of AS Latvenergo Mārtiņš Čakste. The relocation of the Ministry of Economics and its subordinate institutions to Talejas Street is part of the process of optimizing office spaces for state institutions. The use of unified office spaces is intended to promote more efficient use of state resources and collaboration between institutions. The building of the State Revenue Service is also located at 1 Talejas Street. In response to the question of whether the relocation of institutions will lead to a reduction in expenses, the Ministry of Economics indicated that savings in budget funds will be achieved by reducing the occupied area by more than 50%. Consequently, the volume of utility payments and other costs associated with building maintenance, such as security expenses, which will be jointly covered by all institutions located in the building, will decrease. The exact amount of savings will be known after the alienation of the buildings currently occupied by the Ministry of Economics. In the long term, by 2044, the total benefit for the state budget is expected to reach approximately 30 million euros, according to the ministry. Currently, the Ministry of Economics is located at 55 Brivibas Street in Riga.
