Aboliņš believes that in the last couple of years, there has been a deliberate effort to divide Latvian society, which has historically developed as a whole. In his opinion, these changes have been noticeable to everyone, as opposing opinions and positions have increasingly clashed in society. “See, lately, in the last couple of years, there has been very careful work to divide our society as it has historically formed. Well, we have all seen this. Some said it was necessary, others say it is dangerous, that it should not be done,” said the actor. When asked if people today would be ready to openly protest and take to the streets to express their position, Aboliņš expressed doubts. In his opinion, there is no longer such unity in society that would allow people to come together for joint actions. “You asked if we would take to the streets, if we would openly protest. I’m afraid not, because we no longer have that unity. In the most beautiful sense of the word. This word, unfortunately, has depreciated,” he noted. To characterize his concerns about the future of Latvian society, Aboliņš referred to actor Eduards Pāvuls, who once expressed the thought that people might need to endure great common sorrow to become united again. “I have concerns that we may have to endure this great sorrow to understand who we are and for everything to turn for the better,” said Aboliņš.
