The president stated that this applies to hatred towards Latvians or representatives of other nationalities, to people with different political or religious beliefs, and to people of different races. He emphasized that one should not quarrel and succumb to evil, hatred, prejudice, and intolerance. Rinkēvičs reminded that this year at the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebration in Aglona, he spoke about the need to protect Latvia both physically and spiritually. He stressed that the residents of Latvia should not get bogged down in trivial matters. Regardless of everyday political and ideological beliefs and views on how to live rightly and well, it is important to remember the essential beliefs and values. According to the president, for the development of the state, the people, and society, it is crucial to first talk and think about how to achieve progress and make the country and society better. The president emphasized that true mutual understanding begins with conversation, the ability to listen, hear, and respect each other. In his opinion, the ability to speak respectfully and mutual support are also important, even if people do not always agree with each other. Reflecting on what is happening in the world, Rinkēvičs pointed out that these things are no longer taken for granted. "This is in some way an era of indifference and superficiality, and it is in such an era that we all must seek and find strength and faith in goodness," the president stated. In conclusion, the president thanked the Speaker of the Saeima and all deputies of the 14th Saeima for their work, reminding that the 15th Saeima will convene next week.
