According to the president of the association, Alise Nicmane-Aishpure, family doctors currently have mainly high-dose vaccines intended for patients over 60 years old. These supplies arrived in the last few days. Vaccines for children aged two to 17 with chronic diseases and belonging to certain risk groups have mostly been used up in most practices. They were initially supplied in insufficient quantities. At the same time, flu vaccines for children from six months and adults up to 59 years old are currently virtually unavailable — both paid and state-funded. The shortage affects both patients with chronic diseases and healthy individuals. **When Will Vaccines Be Available?** The Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) promises that the next batch of vaccines will arrive in Latvia by November 13. Family doctors expect to receive the supplies by November 18. Vaccination with the Efluelda vaccine, intended for people over 60 and patients with certain immune disorders, is currently ongoing. The delivery of the Vaxigrip vaccine for other population groups is expected in November. **Flu Incidence Has Started to Rise** According to SPKC, flu incidence in Latvia increased by 15% over the past week — from eight to 9.2 cases per 100,000 residents. Experts remind that late October and November are the most suitable times for vaccination. The vaccine helps reduce the risk of severe disease, complications, and hospitalization... In other words, thank you, dear Latvia, for your "care" for the residents of the country...
