On Thursday, November 5, variable cloudiness is expected in Latvia, with occasional sunshine. Meteorologists do not forecast significant precipitation, reports the LETA agency. The maximum air temperature will be +8…+12 degrees, but the weather will be accompanied by gusty north-west winds. In most areas of the country, gusts will reach 9–14 meters per second, and up to 16 meters per second on the coast. ### By evening, the wind will become stronger In the afternoon and evening, the wind on the coast will intensify. Maximum gusts may reach 18 meters per second, which is approximately 65 kilometers per hour. At the same time, significant precipitation is not expected, and cloudiness will alternate with sunny clearings. ### What will the weather be like in Riga? In the capital, Thursday will also be predominantly dry, with occasional sunshine. During the day, the air will warm up to +11 degrees. The north-west wind will strengthen to 16 meters per second in gusts, and in the evening its speed may reach 18 meters per second. Thus, despite the relatively high temperature for November, it will feel cooler in open spaces and near the coast due to the wind. ### Why is the wind intensifying? The weather in Latvia is still influenced by the eastern periphery of the anticyclone, providing predominantly dry weather. However, the strengthening of the north-west wind is associated with an area of low atmospheric pressure located over the Arctic and Russia.
