In the Russian city of Ryazan, fires broke out at industrial sites following a nighttime drone attack. According to the independent Russian publication Astra and Ukrainian Telegram channels, one of the targets was the Ryazan Oil Refinery — one of the largest enterprises in the oil refining industry in Russia. This was reported by the LETA agency, citing "Ukrainska Pravda." ### Residents of Ryazan Reported Explosions and Air Defense Activity During the night, an alert was declared in Ryazan and the Ryazan region due to the threat of a drone attack. Soon, local residents began reporting sounds of explosions, the operation of air defense systems, and the noise of flying drones. The Ukrainian Telegram channel Supernova+ published a video recording of a fire that allegedly occurred at the Ryazan Oil Refinery. The independent Russian publication Astra also reported a fire at the facility. However, the exact extent of damage to the refinery is currently unknown. ### Governor Confirmed Fires and Damage to Power Lines The Governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, confirmed the fact of the drone attack in the morning. According to him, as a result of the incident, power lines were damaged, and fires broke out at industrial sites. However, the governor did not specify which particular enterprises experienced the fire and did not report on the extent of the damage. Thus, the attack itself, damage to power lines, and fires at industrial sites have been officially confirmed, while information about the damage to the oil refinery comes from media reports and Telegram channels. ### Why is the Ryazan Oil Refinery Important for Russia? The Ryazan Oil Refinery is located in the Southern industrial hub of the city and is among the largest oil refining enterprises in the country. The facility produces automotive gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and other petroleum products. The refinery supplies fuel to Moscow and central regions of Russia. According to sources, its products are also used for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Therefore, potential damage to the facility is of interest not only in terms of civilian fuel supplies but also in terms of supporting Russian military infrastructure. At the same time, there is currently no information about a halt in production or a reduction in processing volumes following the current attack. ### Reports of a Possible Fire at the Wildberries Facility In addition to the oil refinery, social media has reported information about a possible fire at the logistics facility of the online trading company Wildberries in Ryazan. However, there is no independent confirmation of these reports yet. Official Russian authorities have also not clarified which specific industrial sites were affected as a result of the nighttime attack. ### Additional Details According to a later report from the governor, one person was injured as a result of the attack. Due to damage to power lines, there were power outages in parts of Ryazan. Windows were broken in one of the schools, and classes were canceled; private homes were also damaged. Furthermore, this is not the first attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery. According to media reports, after a strike on October 15, one of the primary oil processing units at the facility was shut down.
