The story regarding the granting of citizenship to Indian entrepreneur Vishwanatha has continued - as reported by Latvijas avīze, Academician Ivars Kalviņš has indeed decided to "withdraw himself" from the position of president of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. Thus, the group of scientists within the Academy of Sciences that demanded Kalviņš's resignation to save the Academy's reputation has prevailed. Meanwhile, as is known, the prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into all circumstances related to the preparation of documents for granting Vishwanatha citizenship for special merits. Surely, Academician Kalviņš will also have to provide explanations to law enforcement agencies.
